Discover NYS black walnuts, North America's native walnut! Come hear the story of a tree that doesn’t grow in the woods and how it fits into our landscape. Consider the black walnut tree from a whole new perspective, learn about the history of black walnut processing, see our own approach and taste them yourself. Come experience how we are making this unique North American renewable resource more accessible, useful and appreciated.
Our 2023 tour season has closed but we will re-open for tours in May 2024 with our detailed schedule yet to be published. Get 2024 tour tickets in advance and save! Black Squirrel Farms is the home of the first licensed black walnut processing facility in NYS. Tours are outdoors, last an hour and fifteen minutes and include a hay ride and a chance to crack and maple-glaze your own black walnuts. Tours may be rescheduled in the case of inclement weather. 2024 tour gift certificates are electronic and can sent by email or text and optionally printed at home. 2024 tour gift certificates will only be available for sale until our detailed 2024 schedule is published. Maximum 10 participants / tour. 2024 private tours for group sizes of up to 10 participants, normally $175 each, are now on sale for $125 and custom times/dates are possible. Discover NYS black walnuts! Black Squirrel Farms is focused on black walnuts, North America’s native walnut. We grow, collect and process black walnuts at the first 20-C licensed black walnut processing facility in New York State. We manage a black walnut collection program open to anyone with access to trees and we seasonally offer tours of our site focused on the history and future of the black walnut tree, a unique North American renewable resource.
